water storage

have some way to store a large amount of water in the event that
the water gets shut off. bear in mind that collecting rain water
can be dangerous if the water isnt properly treated. follow
the rainwater collection laws in your area. bear in mind that
water that has been sitting in a container for a very long time
will go stagnant. that means water that has been sitting for a very
long time might not be safe to drink.

shelf stable pantry

have a pantry of shelf stable food. this means food that
does not need to be refrigerated or frozen for long periods
of time. elsewhere in the scrolls list the kinds of shelf stable
foods which are available to purchase, and there is some
information about how to preserve your own foods.

bear in mind that any food containers which rats can gnaw
through have to be in metal boxes.

try to save somewhere between 6 months and 5 years worth of food.
make sure to cycle the food out by eating some of it regularly
and test whether or not you can survive comfortably on that food
before disaster strikes
